Accessibility Statement

Draft. This text is being reviewed by an attorney and may change before SunriseHours launches. Questions: robert@sunrisehours.com.

Our commitment

[SunriseHours LLC] wants everyone who uses SunriseHours — students, school staff, workplace supervisors and families — to be able to use it fully, including people who use assistive technology such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice control or a keyboard alone.

The standard we apply

We design and test SunriseHours to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. That is the standard the U.S. Department of Justice's ADA Title II rule sets for public schools and the web services they provide through vendors. We are working toward WCAG 2.2 Level AA, which builds on 2.1.

Where we stand today

Evaluation in progress. We have not yet completed a formal accessibility evaluation, so we do not yet claim that SunriseHours fully meets WCAG 2.1 AA. A formal accessibility review and an Accessibility Conformance Report (VPAT 2.5Rev, WCAG edition) are scheduled for [date]. We will publish the report on this page when it is done and update it with each major release.

Known limitations

We will list here what the formal review finds, each with a planned fix date. Areas we already expect to check closely (to confirm):

What we have done so far

These options help many people, but they do not replace meeting the standard. The formal review will check the whole product.

Compatibility

SunriseHours is designed to work with:

After the formal review we will list the screen readers and other assistive technologies we tested with.

Technical requirements

SunriseHours relies on HTML, CSS and JavaScript, with WAI-ARIA where needed. To use it you need:

Feedback and getting help

If anything in SunriseHours is hard or impossible for you to use, please tell us. We want to know.

Please tell us the page or task, what happened, and the device, browser and any assistive technology you use. You do not need to know the technical cause.

Legal context

Under the Department of Justice's ADA Title II rule, public school districts must make the web content they provide — including content provided through vendors like us — meet WCAG 2.1 AA by April 26, 2027 (public entities serving 50,000 people or more) or April 26, 2028 (smaller ones), and we aim to meet it well before then.
